Siemens and Dongguan Technician College jointly build intelligent manufacturing talent training base

•  A strategic cooperation agreement signed for comprehensive cooperation in the intelligent manufacturing talent training

•  To help boost the development of intelligent manufacturing in Dongguan and even Greater Bay Area with automation, innovation and cultivation of high-tech talents 

Siemens and Dongguan Technician College signed a strategic cooperation agreement on the first day of 2019 China (Guangdong)-Europe Investment and Innovation Cooperation Conference. According to the agreement, the Parties will join hands to build the "SIMATIC Advanced Automation Technology Demonstration Laboratory Base" (Demonstration Base) to train future talents in the field of intelligent manufacturing. Based on Siemens' advanced technology and application experience in industrial automation and digitalization, the Parties will establish long-term strategic cooperation in project planning and construction, teaching and training, textbook preparation and qualification certification, and create a multi-functional platform integrating practical teaching, certification and training, scientific research exchange and technology promotion. The Demonstration Base is scheduled start the construction in 2020. Liang Weidong, Secretary of CPC Dongguan Municipal Committee, Meng Fanzhuang, Commercial Counsellor of Department of European Affairs of Ministry of Commerce of P.R.C, Chen Yuehua, Deputy Director of Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, and Shang Huijie, Senior Vice President of Siemens Ltd., China, and General Manager of Region South, witnessed the signing ceremony.

"Dongguan is one of the central cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and an important industrial base of China’s manufacturing industry, the highly skilled talents in intelligent manufacturing are critical for Dongguan’s innovative development and its industrial structure optimization," Said Shang Huijie. "With its advanced technology and expertise in global industrial automation and digitalization, as well as years of experience in the field of vocational and technical education and training, Siemens will help train a large number of innovative and skilled talents for Dongguan and even the Greater Bay area, which will help promote the development of local intelligent manufacturing and the transformation and upgrading of the industry."

Siemens has been committed to training high-quality engineering talents for the digital era and has been cooperating with Guangdong in this field. In 2015 and 2017, Siemens and the Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Guangdong Province signed the Memorandum of Strengthening Strategic Cooperation in the Field of Intelligent Manufacturing Talent Training and the Letter of Intent on Cooperation in Building Sino-German Siemens Technology (China) International College. In 2018, Siemens worked with relevant institutions to establish Sino-German Siemens Technology International College in Guangzhou and Zhuhai, to explore the implementation of dual-system vocational education. In Dongguan, Siemens signed a Memorandum of comprehensive cooperation with the People’s Government of Dongguan in 2016 and established an intelligent manufacturing innovation center with Dongguan University of Technology in 2018, which can provide technical and consulting services and talent training for the transformation and upgrading of various manufacturing enterprises. Up to now, Siemens has cooperated with more than 20 technician vocational education institutions in Guangdong Province.
